Superb collection of ethnic Asian items, part to be sold, part museum...Korben
Could be interesting, but I think, when reading other reviews, this place loses its magic when the owner is not present himself. When I was there, a grumpy lady was there and wanted us to buy postcards?!?! Strange experience. Without explanation the artwork is not easy to understand, if you, like me, have no knowledge about Borneo's art.Lee Chee You
Good private galleryFrida Broström
Beautiful original ethnic pieces!
I knew this would be a museum and shop, but did not know that it would be sooo nice. It is not very large but I spent several hours here watching the unique pieces and talking to the lovely owner, collector, Indiana Jones of today - Leonard Yiu. He is so nice, and happy to tell the story of the different pieces. There are all sorts of magical trinkets, shaman stafs, protective neck pieces, face masks, carved sculls, beautiful fabrics and more.
About half of the stuff is for sale and half belongs to Mr Yiu's private collection/museum. There is no entrance fee, and I was not allowed to give him any money even after taking up so much of his time. So if you're on a budget, don't worry.
If you like this kind of stuff I strongly recommend going!
Mr Yiu also has an other place called art house gallery, with mainly Chinese collections at the second floor of Wisma cosway. I have yet to go there! Paul Richardson
Gotta go upstairs to find this gem, & boy, what a gem!!
